It was quite accidental…really. I didn’t feel like leaving the house to go and get wrapping paper for my friend’s son’s birthday party. So I used what I had around the house.<!–
Every year I create a new years resolution that basically only helps me but this year I want to do something that will impact the entire planet. So I’m taking Ghandi’s famous quote: Be the change you want to see in the world seriously. For one year I’m going to change the way I live in order to help our planet. Like all new changes the best way to go about it is to take it slow and add on. Like for the month of February, all plastic bags are banned from my home. Did you know that bags are washing up on shores on islands in the middle of the ocean where no humans live and they are killing birds? And! did you know that it takes 10,000 years for bags to decompose?
I won’t lie, the no plastic bag challenge has been hard to live with since they magically seem to appear and what the hell do I do with the ones I already have? But I tell myself that doing something is better than doing nothing at all.
I was inspired by all the documentaries I’ve been watching lately about the planet and Global Warming. We literally on a magical accident in the universe. Our earth didn’t have to happen so why are we treating our home like we are entitled? We are one cell of many that keeps the world spinning. And the world doesn’t need us. This I know and therefore I feel that it’s important to change to at least slow the damage.
